Image capture and post-processing,
Image query are the important aspect of OPUSVIEW Images may be either
DICOM images (from ultrasound machines with DICOM capability), or those
captured via a "grabber" card, which can capture video sequences or individual
still images, which are then associated with the patient's visit. These
images are transferred and maintained in a central repository, and may
be processed post-facto, to improve image quality (brightness, contrast,
sharpen, color filters...), or to annotate (text, geometrical region indicators,
etc.). Annotations behave as "watermarks" i.e. the original image remains
unchanged, but a composite image is presented, which is based on the original
image, along with all modification rendered during post-processing Multi-frame
images can be edited as well, trimming out unwanted sections, or enhancing
individual frames for additional clarity. Images and reports can be selectively
archived on to CDs for easy transportation. The database may be queried
for images containing certain annotation text or annotation types. Additionally,
a future version of the product will allow the annotations to be made
at the time of the scan (i.e. on the ultrasound machine, prior to capture),
and will allow the user to query the machine based on these annotations,
which, from the capture card's standpoint, are indistinguishable from
the other pixels in the graphic. |
